This past Friday was the first fiscal cutoff of this year’s legislative session, meaning that all bills had to be passed out of fiscal committees to continue on their journey through the legislative obstacle course.
We are excited to report that many of our policy priorities are alive and well after Friday’s cutoff, including these bills that passed out of the House Appropriations Committee into Rules: - SHB 1678, which would authorize dental therapy at community health clinics statewide.
-
SHB 1447, which would make much-needed improvements to TANF, including eliminating time limits for cases that only involve children.
- SHB 1652, which ensures that children on TANF receive 100% of child support payments from non-custodial parents.
-
SHB 1477, which makes important improvements to the Working Families Tax Credit like allowing married individuals filing separately to claim the credit.
- SHB 1260, which would end the requirement for adults with disabilities to repay their ABD benefits to the state when they transfer onto SSI.

Now that these bills have passed through Appropriations, they move into Rules, where legislators will decide if they will bring the bills to a vote on the House floor. They have until the next bill cutoff, March 8, to pass off of the House floor.
This means we have to keep up the pressure on representatives to vote YES on SHB 1678, SHB 1447, SHB 1477, SHB 1652, and SHB 1260! |
