Tobacco use and cardiovascular disease go hand in hand. Quitting tobacco can be one of the most effective ways to improve your health, especially your heart health.
People who smoke are two to four times more likely to experience a stroke and heart disease. Smoking thickens and narrows the blood vessels, reducing blood flow. Restricted blood flow increases blood pressure, creating blood clots that can cause a stroke and other cardiac-related events.
