John,

Black History Month isn't a moment. As a member of Color Of Change, you’re
helping us to uplift Black lives and Black history every day, 365 days a
year.

Our organization was founded in 2005, just three weeks after Hurricane
Katrina hit and the Bush administration’s failed response shocked the
nation. That’s when one email was launched to a network of 1,000 friends
asking them to pledge to make sure all Americans are represented, served
and protected — regardless of race or class. At that moment, Color Of
Change was born.

COC doesn’t take any money from lobbyists or corporations that don’t share
our values. We count on your support to help us leverage corporate,
government and people power when Black people are neglected or when Black
history is erased. Less than 48 hours are left to take advantage of our
Black History Month $50K Match Fund. [ [link removed] ]Help fuel our next chapter with a
gift of $25 or more before our end-of-month deadline and it will be
matched dollar for dollar!

With every campaign, we’re working to create a more human and less hostile
world for Black people in America. That includes everything from our work
to end prison profiteering to our campaigns to eliminate the unchecked
power of Big Tech and to create new opportunities for Black people to
succeed and thrive. Thanks to folks like you, we’re proving every day that
we can achieve big change when we lean into our collective power.

In our first five years, our members:

* Sent more than 45,000 emails, placed 450 calls and funded a $15K
full-page ad to demand satellite voting stations be set up to ensure
displaced survivors of Hurricane Katrina could participate in the New
Orleans mayoral election.
* Held rallies, delivered petitions and raised $250K toward the legal
defense of the Jena Six, Black students who were charged with
attempted murder for a fight with a white classmate after nooses were
hung around school.
* Called on Congress to eliminate the racist 100:1 sentencing disparity
between crack and powder cocaine offenses, helping to ensure the
passage of the federal Fair Sentencing Act that reduced it to 18:1.

And in the last five years, we:

* Joined to organize the annual Black Mama’s Bail Out as a founding
member of the National Bail Out Collective, an ongoing initiative that
has raised more than $5 million and bailed out more than 500 mothers
and caregivers from jails, prisons and immigrant detention centers.
* Launched #TheBlackResponse to COVID-19, an action hub to help Black
people stay safe and thrive during the pandemic.
* Pressured AT&T to stop funding the far-right OAN Network. Your
petition signatures ensured OANN, a major pro-Trump, white nationalist
propaganda platform, was removed from DirecTV.
* Launched the #BlackTechAgenda, a racial justice road map for Congress
to create tech policies with real solutions to protect our communities
from discrimination and harm from Big Tech.

As we continue to work to build independent Black political power,
small-dollar donations are critical to sustaining our movement and
allowing us to focus on the type of work that will transform society. A
donation of $5 or $20 might not seem like much, but thousands of people
coming together truly adds up in powerful ways. [ [link removed] ]So John,
will you make a MATCHED contribution to help us reach our $50,000
fundraising goal?

We’re truly grateful for your support.
