Today the new energy price cap has been announced, and it’s bad. It means some homes could be paying an estimated average of £3000 a year to heat their homes in the midst of a cost of living crisis. [1]
But it didn’t have to be this way. The UK has the worst insulated and coldest homes in Western Europe - 19 million homes are poorly insulated thanks to Government neglect. [2] This means it’s very likely you are having to put your heating on higher, at great expense, to keep your home warm this winter.
For years environmental, disability and fuel poverty campaigners have been calling on the government to insulate and upgrade homes to lower bills and tackle the climate crisis. But the government is failing us and almost 7 million households have faced fuel poverty this winter. [3][4]
That’s why we’ve commissioned Cambridge Econometrics to create an easy to use online calculator to see how much you and your community could save if this government invested in making our homes fit for the future. Plus we’ve made it easy to send your results directly to Chancellor Jeremy Hunt to call for action. Find out how much you could save:

Key workers are striking and the pressure on the government is reaching boiling point as people struggle. They’re under pressure - and they have to act soon. Make sure they do the right thing and lower bills for people and the planet.
Thanks for all you do,
Anthony and the climate team.
