Dear Colleague,
The first issue of the Clearinghouse’s quarterly research digest in 2020 provides abstracts of articles from the peer-reviewed literature on male circumcision, with a focus on voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) for HIV prevention. This issue covers articles published from 1 October to 31 December 2019.
Links are provided to the full text of articles that are open access. For additional information on VMMC, search the Clearinghouse’s Resource Library.
Featured Articles
- A geospatial analysis identified locations in Tanzania where VMMC scale-up needs to be intensified to reach more than 1.5 million uncircumcised men and adolescents.
- A guide to the use of psycho-behavioural segmentation to design targeted interventions outlines the critical steps and provides a case study on segmentation for VMMC in Zambia and Zimbabwe.
- A meta-analysis calculated the facility-level average cost per client of providing VMMC services and HIV testing and counselling in 13 countries.
Other articles featured in the digest address potential biological explanations for VMMC’s protective effect against HIV; early resumption of sex after VMMC in Botswana; and the impact of VMMC on sexually transmitted infections in Tanzanian men.
Best regards,
The Clearinghouse Webmaster
