John,
Last week, I testified before the Maryland state House in support of our bill to cut taxes for Maryland veterans.
The Keep Our Heroes Home Act would exempt up to $40,000 of military retirement income from state taxes. For context, right now, veterans aged 55 or older are eligible to exempt up to $15,000, while those younger than 55 can only exempt $5,000.
Veterans continue to serve long after they retire from the military, moving our economy forward and contributing to our communities. This legislation would help keep our veterans here at home in the state of Maryland, instead of moving to surrounding states with better benefits.
Our state must serve our veterans the way they serve us. We can, and must, do better for the men and women who have sacrificed for us, which is why I made this one of my first major legislative priorities as Governor.
Will you add your name in support of my Keep Our Heroes Home Act to reduce taxes for Maryland’s retired veterans today?
Elevate,
Wes
