Friend -
Our big theme this year will be to inform and unite us against the real enemies putting their thumb on the scales of democracy. We have already mentioned Barre Seid ($1.6 billion right wing donation) and Leonard Leo (anti-abortion Supreme Court architect). But they are the tip of the iceberg.
The Uihleins (of the Uline Corporation) just won a conservative victory for a Trump ally in Wisconsin, Daniel Kelly. Kelly is connected to a “fake electors” ( MSNBC article [[link removed]] ) plot to overthrow the 2020 WI election results. The Uihleins funding along with what is likely also of interest to Leonard Leo will be used to tip the scales in WI in the April general election.
This kind of attempt to gain control of our democracy, not through leadership and responsiveness to the needs of the people but by manipulation and buying elections will be a major theme this cycle. We are also learning from our political allies that similar work is happening in the environmental movement.
Another wealthy conservative is funding work to push pension funds and investors away from renewable energy and towards fossil fuels. Peter Thiel (Paypal) is working through Strive Asset Management ( Bloomberg article [[link removed]] ) to push against “woke capitalism” by promoting “excellence capitalism”. If it wasn’t such a serious matter it might be a great plot for Showtime’s “Billions”. Leonard Leo is also contributing to this onslaught against ESG (Environment, Social, Governance).
Side note, I just found out that a major KPOP corporation has adopted ESG as its socially responsible mission. See here where JY Park provides an ESG report for JYP Entertainment [[link removed]] . LOL! You go KPOP stans!
The way in which the Wisconsin Supreme Court election is connected to the environmental policy battles is the funders who are trying to cheat voters of their democracy. They don’t care about fair elections or socially responsible ideas. They just want to rule with their money to make more money. Next up, how losing the Arizona Treasurer seat has set them up for the scourge of “excellence capitalism”.
More news and information to come,
