I'm writing to you from Ukraine. I'm going to ask for you to support our ongoing work, but first, I wanted to share what I'm seeing here on the ground.
I took this picture this week in Kharkiv, as I was walking around the deserted district of Saltivka. What was once a thriving residential area popular among the city inhabitants, today lies in ruins.
The war here may have begun a year ago but, the reminders, and danger, are just as present today. The scenes of destroyed houses and infrastructure are just as harrowing. And in many places across Ukraine power, heat and light are unavailable for hours at a time. People are still dying under shelling.
As the conflict continues, millions of lives continue to be at risk in Ukraine and other crisis zones. From the people on the frontlines of the war, to remote communities dependent on Ukrainian wheat exports, the humanitarian needs driven by this war continue to multiply.
Right now, you can DOUBLE your impact for refugees and other displaced families by helping us reach our $200,000 fundraising goal. Please follow this personalized link to help bring aid to families whose lives have been thrown into chaos: [link removed]
The IRC is focusing our assistance in Ukraine in the areas that are most heavily affected by the conflict — and where the temperatures are lowest.
We are providing cash, health and legal services, as well as distributing winter kits to people who cannot access warm blankets or fuel stoves. We are also providing people with plywood and other materials to patch up the broken windows and walls. We are running safe spaces for women and children, where they can recover from everything they have witnessed over the past few months.

Beyond Ukraine, we are addressing the impacts of the war in places like East Africa, where disruptions to Ukraine's food exports have hit hard. Without significant humanitarian assistance, millions of people around the world are at risk of extreme hunger.
Please make a matched gift today to DOUBLE your support for the IRC's humanitarian response in Ukraine and other places impacted by this crisis. Just follow this personalized link: [link removed]
