Folks — running for Governor keeps me very busy, especially as we approach our deadline for a huge end-of-month goal.

But I am sitting in my kitchen this Sunday afternoon, taking a break from my schedule, and thinking about why I am in this race in the first place.

I am thinking about the parents I meet who are worried if their children will be safe in our public schools and if they’ll receive the sound basic education the constitution guarantees them.

I am thinking about the seniors in our state on a fixed income, terrified about rising costs and how they are going to pay their next bill.

And I am thinking about every woman in our state — whose fundamental reproductive rights now hinge on which politicians hold power in North Carolina.

And, folks, I’ve never been more determined to win this election — because we can’t let North Carolina go backwards. I refuse to let a radical Republican like Mark Robinson sit in the Governor’s office and strip away your freedoms to serve his ideological agenda.
