Andrew Delivers Clean Water Funding To New York |
|
On Friday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced over $256,106,000 to New York from the Bipartisan Infrastructure bill through this year’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF). In a statement Andrew Garbarino said, “On Long Island, upgrades to our sewers are desperately needed in order to support main street growth, preserve access to clean water, and protect our natural resources like the Great South Bay. The age and density of our sewer systems cannot sustain the rate of growth we have seen in our population and economy. I am pleased to see federal funding coming to our community for needed upgrades to wastewater and stormwater infrastructure and I am proud to have helped delivered these funds for my constituents with my vote for the bipartisan infrastructure bill.”

Recommendations from the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee’s latest report on regulatory harmonization are generating a positive response from House Homeland Security leaders. The NSTAC approved on Tuesday the 'Strategy for Increasing Trust in the Information and Communications Technology and Services Ecosystem.' It takes a comprehensive look at three previous NSTAC reports developed to address specific components of the strategy and adds in new details on how harmonization could work in practice…House Homeland Security cyber subcommittee Chairman Andrew Garbarino (R-NY) said in a statement, 'Over the last several years, we have provided CISA with the resources it needs to improve our national cybersecurity posture. Now we must ensure that those federal dollars are being used in the way in which Congress intended and that CISA is operating in an efficient and effective manner. The recommendations to streamline duplicative and burdensome regulatory obligations and encourage regulator harmonization included in this report are welcome avenues to achieve this goal,' Garbarino said

CASEWORK HIGHLIGHT: Stopping Mail Fraud In Its Tracks |
|
A constituent realized that someone had fraudulently changed his address through the United States Postal Service, forwarding his mail from his Long Island home address to a location in California. The matter became especially time sensitive because the constituent was expecting the delivery of his passport ahead of an imminent trip. After the constituent contacted our office, Andrew's casework team was able to work with the State Department to track the passport, ensure the delivery was intercepted by the USPS, and work with USPS to corrected his address and return all of the parcels delivered to California including his passport, bills, tax documents and other packages.

Andrew Stands With Israel |

Recently, Francesca Albanese, the United Nations Special Rapporteur, made public remarks highlighting her strong anti-Israel bias and the deep-seated prejudice inherent to the United Nations’ approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This latest slew of comments is not the first time Albanese has made antisemitic remarks. That's why Congressman Garbarino joined with several of his bipartisan colleagues in sending a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations urging him to relieve Albanese of all official duties, help disband the Commission of Inquiry (COI) into Israel, and work towards alleviating the deep-seated antisemitic and anti-Israel bias at the United Nations. Andrew will always fight back against antisemitism and stand by our ally Israel against hate.

Andrew Becomes Co-Chair of Tourette Syndrome Caucus |
|
Andrew recently became co-Chair of the Congressional Tourette Syndrome Caucus. According to the CDC, 1 in 50 children aged 5-14 years are affected by TS with about 1.4 million total people in the U.S. affected. Having TS can have an impact on many areas of life, particularly when children have another condition in addition to TS. As co-Chair of the caucus, Andrew will work to raise awareness about TS and pursue policies in support of research and to improve the lives of those living with TS. You can learn more about TS here.
