Polls show that the clear #1 challenger to Donald Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

But what do the American people really know about Ron DeSantis? Not much.

For instance, few Americans know that DeSantis cosponsored legislation that would slash Social Security and partially privatize Medicare.

Or that he backed abolishing the federal income tax and replacing it with a nationwide 30% sales tax — effectively jacking up taxes on poor and middle class Americans in order to hand a gigantic tax break to the very richest people in the country.

Let’s be clear: A Ron DeSantis presidency would be every bit as disastrous as Donald Trump’s was. Maybe worse.

In fact, DeSantis is the nation’s consummate culture warrior, and he has become the darling of Fox News with race-baiting stunts like illegally flying Venezuelan migrants to Martha’s Vineyard in an attempt to "own the libs."

DeSantis's "Don't Say Gay" bill banned discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity in public schools. Math textbooks have been rejected for what officials call “indoctrination” and books by Black and LGBTQ authors have been banned.

Abortion banned after 15 weeks. A new state voter suppression office under the guise of investigating "election crimes." The list goes on and on.

However, the challenge we face with a candidate like DeSantis is that the mainstream media is so obsessed with Trump, it's unlikely that any other presidential candidate will get the kind of scrutiny they deserve.
