This is deeply troubling, John: Michigan Republicans just chose Kristina Karamo, far-right extremist and outspoken 2020 election denier – who has yet to concede her loss in the 2022 Secretary of State race – as their party chair.
Let’s review some of Karamo’s beliefs:
- Opposed teaching evolution and called public schools “government indoctrination camps.”
- Spread the conspiracy theory that left-wing anarchists were behind the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.
- Called abortion “child sacrifice” and a “satanic practice.”
By selecting Kristina Karamo as their party chair, Michigan Republicans are doubling down on the kind of dangerous extremism that Michiganders have rejected over and over again. And since Hillary flipped this seat BLUE in 2022 for the first time in over 50 years, you can bet her seat will be one of their top targets – so we need to start seriously investing in organizing and voter outreach right away.
