John, a few weeks back, I asked this team to share the issues most on your mind. When I reviewed your responses, gun violence reform kept on coming up – and it is no wonder why.

The gun violence epidemic is one of the greatest threats facing our communities. Gun violence is everywhere – our schools, our grocery stores, community gatherings, malls. Less than two months into 2023, there have already been more than 80 mass shootings. That's more than one mass shooting a day.

I have released far too many statements over the course of my career about these tragedies. But every time a mass shooting makes the headlines, we find ourselves stuck in the same loop of "thoughts and prayers" but no action. I'm proud of the reforms that Congress passed last year in the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, but our work is far from over.

It's time to pass the commonsense reforms that a majority of Americans support. It’s time for universal background checks. It's time to ban assault weapons. It's time to make America a country where our children are safe going to school. It is time to say enough.

We can only pass strong gun violence prevention laws with a strong Democratic majority in Washington. But election experts are already calling the 2024 Senate map a "GOP dream." That's why I'm asking you to join me in this fight by making a donation to defend our Senate majority. Please, if you have anything extra to spare, will you chip in now?
