In response, anti-choice politicians and leaders coming for our constitutional right to travel between the states, too.
That’s right — lawmakers here in Texas and around the country want to restrict people’s ability to travel for the reproductive care they need and are introducing legislation to make that the law.
The future that these lawmakers envision is really unimaginable to most of us in Texas – it is at odds with our fundamental values as Texans and Americans. It is an assault on our freedom, privacy, dignity, and health. But they are working every day to make this vision a reality.
That’s why it’s so important for us to fight back. I promised to do everything I can to protect reproductive freedom — including the freedom to travel for the care we need — and that’s why I made one of my first actions in this new Congress reintroducing my bill protecting the right to travel for abortion. We also need to fight back at the ballot box.
We’ll need a sustained, systemic, strategic effort to take back our state from anti-choice extremists who don’t represent the majority of Texans. That’s why we must continue our work together, and I’m so grateful to know I can count on you to do this with us.
Together, we can do anything,
