Friend,

This Tuesday, as part of the Care Can’t Wait Coalition, we’re delivering tens of thousands of signatures (hopefully including yours!) in-person, in DC, to Congress reminding them that for parents and caregivers THE CRISIS ISN’T OVER. Please click to sign on now.

Parents are still in a state of emergency: Child care still costs more than college; we still are the ONLY industrialized nation without a paid family and medical leave policy for when a new child arrives or serious health crisis strikes; elder care is out of reach for too many to be able to age with dignity – and care workers are some of the lowest paid people in our country. Being a mom is still a greater predictor of wage and hiring discrimination than gender; and moms of color, due to structural racism, experience compounded wage discrimination to the extent that Latina moms earn just 46 cents to a white dads dollar [1] and Black moms just 52 cents.[2] And immigrants, many of whom are in the care workforce, still do not have a pathway to citizenship. THIS. IS. NOT. OKAY. We are not okay.

*Sign on now to tell Congress: Care Can’t Wait. We’ll deliver your signature in-person in DC on Tuesday.

Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be this way. Solutions are within our reach. We just need Congress to step up for our families and the economy. Studies show that passing Care Infrastructure policies that cover people of all genders (quality affordable child care, paid family and medical leave, health care and elder care, and fair pay) actually lowers the wage gaps between moms and non-moms, lifts up businesses, helps with job retention, and advances public health, businesses, and our economy.

Doing nothing isn’t an option. Passing a care infrastructure isn’t just the right thing to do for our families, it’s the smart thing to do for businesses and the economy. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell even testified in Congress that our nation’s failure (so far) to build a care infrastructure is hurting our international competitiveness. [3]

**So, please join us in telling Congress: Get MOVING! Care Can’t Wait. And sign on fast (and share with friends) please because we’re delivering signatures on Tuesday in DC.

Now as you sign on (and invite friends to sign on), know that your signature is powerful. You taking a moment now to sign adds up with all the other people signing across the nation to be a powerful force in Washington D.C. Together our voices, our signatures, our stories just helped pass the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, the PUMP for Working Mothers Act, a 30 percent increase in child care funding ($8 billion!), and extended postpartum health care. But, as you know, our work to help build a nation where everyone can thrive is far from done.

We. Can. Move. Mountains. Grow children (!!). And change public policy for the better. We are spectacular double, triple taskers – and are an incredibly powerful force when united.

***Thank you in advance for SIGNING ON – and please share the sign on link on social media and with friends. The more of us who take a moment to sign on, the faster we’ll pass the policy changes we all need.

Let’s do this!
