Transit service update Feb. 27-March 5

King County Metro will operate all weekday bus routes Monday, Feb. 27, through Friday, March 3, however, some individual bus trips will be canceled. All weekend routes and trips are expected to operate as scheduled.

Our maintenance crews are making steady progress on fleet repairs and are working with vendors to stabilize ongoing supply chain challenges affecting our industry. Due to low utilization, Houghton Park-and-Ride will close March 18, 2023
map for the Houghton P&R area with red X over the P&R and stop 72314

King County Metro is scheduled to close the Houghton Park-and-Ride on March 18, 2023, due to low utilization. Based on observations, about five vehicles park at this location to regularly access transit, about 3 percent of the 470-vehicle parking lot.

Routes 245 and 342 are the only routes that use the facility, and riders will have easy access to stops within the same block.

* Route 245 will continue to run on Northeast 70th Place and serve the current eastbound stop (72312), as well as a new westbound stop on Northeast 70th Place and 116th Avenue Northeast (72311).
* Route 342 will continue to serve the existing freeway stops (82841 and 82716).

Alternative transit customer parking options and more information can be found on the Metro Matters blog [ [link removed] ]. Additional assistance for trip planning can be found by calling the Customer Information Office at 206-553-3000.?

Celebrating Black Women at Metro

At Metro, we understand that to become anti-racist and pro-equity, our celebration of Black History Month must be centered on the experiences of those who continue to push us to model and champion our values. We know that Black women live with the double burden of racism and sexism ? these intersecting experiences are critical for us to hold as we collectively envision an anti-racist and pro-equity future.

This year, we are celebrating the Black women at Metro and the difference they make in operations. The following are their stories of hope, perseverance, and resilience and we are so grateful for their vulnerability and the paths they have forged not only for themselves, but for all those who will come after them. Even with the progress that has been made in the last 46 years of celebrating Black History Month, we know there is still more work ahead of us.
