Dear Colorado Democrat,
We are in the process of forming the 2023-2024 State Outreach Commission (SOC). The SOC is responsible for implementing and administering the state and county parties affirmative action/outreach plans.
In order to create full participation by all Democrats in the Party, the Party shall adopt and implement affirmative action programs with specific goals and timetables for achieving results. The Party values the participation of all its diverse members and recognizes that diversity is our strength as Democrats. All members of the Party shall take reasonable steps to foster participation at all levels of the Party and in all Party affairs of traditionally underrepresented groups, such as ethnic, racial minorities, women, youth, poor, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and differently-abled in such numbers as nearly as practicable.
Adopting and implementing this plan not only ensures diversity that is reflective of our state Democratic electorate, but strengthens the integrity of our state delegation during primaries, the presidential delegate selection process and encourages all Democrats to engage at all levels of our state politics.
SOC Composition
- 1 appointed Director
- 8 appointed members
- a designee from each of the CDP Initiatives
- 3 members to be elected at the Congressional District Reorganization Meetings
Indira Duggirala is the Director of the State Outreach Commission.
We are conducting Congressional Reorganization Meetings on March 4th, 2023. This is an opportunity for 3 Democrats in each district to be elected to the SOC.
We are looking for Dems who are invested in creating a more diverse Party across the State to run for these positions. The Commission will be meeting monthly.
