As right-wing Supreme Court justices pose a serious threat to our rights -- overturning Roe v. Wade, gutting voting rights, limiting climate protections and gun safety measures, and more -- now is a crucial time to join the movement to #ExpandTheCourt. So, I thank you for being here. I co-founded Demand Justice in 2018, just as Brett Kavanaugh was being confirmed to the Supreme Court despite serious allegations of misconduct. I knew then like I know now that the Court is in dire need of reform. |

You see, the Republican party has seen the writing on the wall and knows that it can’t win on the issues. From the need for access to abortion and reproductive healthcare, to the need for an adequate and immediate plan to address climate change, to the need for robust gun violence prevention, Republicans have categorically rejected issues that a commanding and consistent majority of Americans support. But instead of being responsive to the current needs of everyday Americans - instead of trying to appeal to more voters - Republican politicians have turned their attention to ensuring that their party’s minority status will not hinder its ability to win elections. Their insurance policy? The United States Supreme Court. The Court’s 6-3 conservative majority now functions as an arm of the Republican Party, and it stands willing to strike down any law that gets in the way of the party’s plans to amass and maintain power. That’s where you come in. We must put pressure on our lawmakers to take bold action to end the filibuster, safeguard abortion rights, and expand the Supreme Court. Not in five or 10 years – now.
