John,
By now, you’ve probably heard or read about the devastating train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, where more than ten cars carrying multiple hazardous chemicals spilled and burned, creating a black plume of smoke over the region.

It’s still unclear how much environmental and public health damage was done by this disaster, and we may not know for years to come.
Unfortunately, train derailments are more common than you’d think, and here in New Mexico, one metric ton of chemical cargo travels across our state every year.
That’s why I wrote a letter to rail companies BNSF and Union Pacific demanding they work with the Department of Transportation to ensure nothing like this ever happens in New Mexico.
Read my full letter and add your name to join me in demanding the rail industry do everything in its power to protect our rail workers, communities, and environment →
Rail plays a critical role in New Mexico’s economy, and it’s imperative that goods continue to move safely and efficiently across our state.
Thank you for speaking up with me,
Gabe
