My work in TX-31 and Congress   Howdy Texan, I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on what’s happening in the U.S. House and Texas’ 31st district ON THE DOCKET: Introducing the Recruit and Retain Act Social Security Solvency Funding for STEM-for-All Partnership INTRODUCING THE RECRUIT AND RETAIN ACT I introduced the Recruit and Retain Act to help local law enforcement recruit and retain police officers. The legislation will allow COPS grantees to use funding for recruiting new law enforcement officers and retaining current police. Washington Democrats' disparaging remarks against police, and the "defund the police" movement made recruiting and retaining police officers almost impossible. As a result, overtime costs are higher, there are less police on our streets, and police officers are stretched thin. Whether it’s a small town or big city, departments are struggling. We’ve seen what the defund movement has done to our nation’s police officers, it's time to give them the support they need to keep our communities safe. I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU: Social Security Solvency! Biden and Democrats’ worn-out scare tactics about Republicans cutting Social Security are both disingenuous and untrue. Social Security is a critical service that our seniors paid into, and it must be fortified to protect it against going insolvent for future generations. Are you concerned about Social Security solvency? Yes No Texas State STEM students. Photo Courtesy of The University Star FUNDING FOR STEM-FOR-ALL PARTNERSHIP I am proud to bring $1 million back to Central Texas to fund the Texas State University- Round Rock STEM-for-All Partnership. This funding is an investment in Central Texas students and educators. Providing students with opportunities to explore STEM at a young age gives them the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving, technologically driven workforce. It has been an honor to work alongside Texas State as they grow their Round Rock campus and actively engage with our community. Learn more about the partnership here. Read my press release here. As always, thank you for taking the time to stay updated on what's happening in Texas' 31st congressional district. Follow my Facebook and Twitter accounts for more updates. It is an honor and privilege to represent you and Texas in the United States House. Sincerely, John R. Carter Visit our website! WC Willamson County 4411 S I 35 Frontage Rd.
