John- Dan Crenshaw here. This week, I highlighted a new study which quantifies and confirms what we’ve been saying all along: COVID lockdowns were all cost and no benefit for Democrat states. I also called out a troubling trend in school districts across the country and brought attention to the $20 trillion increase in the U.S. national debt that’s projected over the next 10 years. As always, thank you for your support. Now, here’s your brief: COVID LOCKDOWNS WERE ALL COST AND NO BENEFIT CLICK HERE OR ON THE IMAGE ABOVE TO READ MORE A new study has quantified what we’ve been saying for a long time—government lockdowns were all cost, no benefit. The states that locked down during COVID suffered and so did their residents, causing people to leave for open states like Texas (which was #2 for domestic migration during pandemic years). Among the findings: States with severe government interventions did not significantly improve health outcomes (age-adjusted and pre-existing-condition adjusted COVID mortality and all-cause excess mortality) compared to states with more restrained approaches. This may be partly because government interventions appear to have increased excess mortality from non-COVID health conditions. Severe government interventions were strongly correlated with worse economic (increased unemployment and decreased GDP) and educational (fewer days of in-person schooling) outcomes. The economic and education damage was most severe for lower-income families and children. Prolonged and unnecessary restrictions like the COVID lockdowns never had the outcomes Democrats expected. In the end, they only led to increased unemployment, lower economic activity, and learning loss for lower income families. The proof is undeniable. THE SOFT BIGOTRY OF LOW EXPECTATIONS CLICK HERE OR ON THE IMAGE ABOVE TO READ MORE A troubling new trend is emerging: AP and Honors classes are being canceled in school districts across the country. Why? Because far left school administrators say not enough minority students are enrolled in these classes, thus making them “inequitable.” Instead of addressing the root of the problem by giving these disadvantaged students a better education, these administrators would rather just cancel all advanced education and pretend that puts every student on an even playing field. Another point these school districts have conveniently ignored: erasing honors class opportunities for students in the name of “racial equity” is inherently racist. Assuming that minority students aren’t capable of handling intensive, higher-level learning is a perfect example of the left’s soft bigotry of low expectations. Equality means giving everyone an equal opportunity to succeed. By limiting all students’ access to rigorous courses to achieve a manufactured version of equity and educational success, you’re actually just ensuring that no student can live up to their full potential in the classroom. A FISCAL DISASTER IS LOOMING CLICK HERE OR ON THE IMAGE ABOVE TO READ MORE The Congressional Budget Office projects the U.S. national debt will increase by $20 trillion in just 10 years. This isn’t sustainable, and it’s also why it’s perfectly reasonable for Republicans to push for savings in the budget. Some facts for reference: only about 1/3 of our spending is discretionary, meaning the annual budget we fight about every year. This includes all spending on government agencies like Department of Defense, Homeland Security, Environmental Protect Agency, Transportation Department, etc. And the other 2/3rd? That’s all “mandatory” spending, which means programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. That’s also the fastest growing area of spending because our population is aging. People are living longer and having less kids, which has made these retirement safety nets fiscally unsustainable. Unfortunately, most people don’t even know these basic facts about the budget, which makes it easy for opportunistic politicians to lie about the debt and who is to blame for the debt crisis. The truth is that it’s everyone’s fault, and we need everyone to be all in for a solution.
