Irving, TX – I recently toured Manda Machine Company's facility in Dallas. As a member of the House Committee on Small Business, I always appreciate meeting with local small businesses and hearing how the federal government can better serve their needs.

I also joined the Northeast Tarrant Chamber for their government event. We discussed the impact of federal issues on our local business community and ways to work together in the future.

As you may know, I was selected to serve as Chairman of the Small Business Committee's Oversight Subcommittee. This week, I helped lead an effort to push back on the Biden Administration's harmful regulatory agenda that is crushing Main Street.

Deadlines for Student Art Programs

Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our Congressional District. I am pleased to announce that the deadline to enter the 2023 Congressional Art Competition for the 24th District of Texas is Wednesday, April 19th, 2023. For more information, please visit my website.

I am also pleased to announce that the deadline to register for this year's Elementary Art Showcase and Forum is Wednesday, April 19th, 2023. The theme for this year's showcase is the Sights of U.S. Capitol Hill. For more information, please visit my website.

Texas-24 Work of the Week

I recently helped introduce the Prohibiting IRS Financial Surveillance Act. This bill will help protect hardworking families and small businesses from the Biden Administration’s intimidation campaign, which is expected to violate privacy and impose enormous costs.

Hometown Hero

Our Texas-24 Hometown Hero of the week is David Grenier, founder of Hero Grain. David crafts wooden, handmade American flags that he sells and donates to organizations that assist veterans and first responders.

David is a hero himself as he served our country for 13 years as a Marine and then a Navy SEAL. He left the service to look after his special needs daughter. His company's mission is to employ combat veterans and donate flags to families of the fallen and extraordinary heroes. David has a great sense of pride when he accredits outstanding soldiers by donating one of his handcrafted American flags.

I want to thank David for his service and for going above and beyond for service members across our community.
