Dear friend,
Today, on the 47th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, I wanted to share some thoughts on the past few years.
As a Social Worker, I often tell my clients that the best way to work through anger and trauma is by taking action. After the election of 2016, I felt that I needed to take my own advice, so when I heard about the Women’s March happening in Washington, DC, my spouse Ann and I decided to go. There, I felt called to take action on behalf of my community, and so I officially decided to launch my campaign for Congress in MO-08. [[link removed]]
This past weekend, I had the absolute pleasure of joining the first ever Women’s March in Southeast Missouri.
There, over 200 people gathered in one of the reddest cities in Missouri’s 8th District to advocate for abortion access, LGBTQ+ rights, the right for individuals to control their own bodies, and the right to organize . It was incredible. ( And it even got some national press coverage! [[link removed]] )
I remember the days before Roe v. Wade when women would have unsafe abortion procedures, or wealthy women would travel to bigger cities to receive care. Missouri’s 8th District is changing, and folks are stepping up to say enough is enough. We cannot go back. We will not go back.

Here’s the deal: When we organize, we win. And with the right resources, we can flip this District. [[link removed]] In 2020, we’re going to need all hands on deck to elect new leadership to Missouri’s 8th, leadership who will fight to protect Roe v. Wade and expand reproductive healthcare access into all the corners of this country.
So today, I’m asking: Can you sign up to give monthly to our campaign? [[link removed]] Your contributions help us continue our organizing work around reproductive rights in Missouri’s 8th District.
Thank you - let’s flip this District!
Kathy
P.S. If you can’t contribute and want to help us organize voters around reproductive rights, you can sign up to volunteer with our campaign here. [[link removed]]
