Taxpayer, we just launched a NEW investigation of an NIH-funded experiment where discarded pet dogs are being fed to flies. This email is about our plan to expose and close the lab. To update your email preferences, click here.
Hi Taxpayer — see below. We’re about $4,500 short of reaching our budget to expose and close this lab.
The deadline to help is tonight.
Thanks. — Daniel López, WCW Research and Investigations Manager
Taxpayer — I just don’t get it.
There’s been a very poor show of support for our new campaign:
Maybe folks think discarding pet foxhounds at a taxpayer-funded laboratory isn’t a major scandal? Maybe people don’t think it’s so bad if the dogs are fed to insects?
Tapayer, whatever the reason, this trend is bad news.
You see, the first few days following the launch of a new campaign are the most critical.
If we can’t show an initial surge of grassroots support, the pro-animal testing lobby will gauge it as a sign of weakness. Even worse, Congress will assume the issue is not a priority among taxpayers.
We still have time to turn this around – but not much.
The White Coat Waste Project (WCW) is the ONLY GROUP that’s successfully shut down government dog labs since 2007:
Taxpayer WCW has closed more government dog labs in the last twelve months than other organizations have in the last 40 years!
As you can see, there’s a direct connection between rapid fundraising success and rapid lab closures: You give. We win. They survive.
But that’s just not happening this time, Taxpayer.
Now here’s the urgent deadline: We just uncovered this abandoned pet lab. But we’re not budgeted for it! We can’t abandon this investigation and turn our backs on these hounds who’ve already been abandoned.
Please send help to expose and close this lab!!!

Can you imagine dropping off your pet dog at a government laboratory... and giving the white coats permission to torture and kill her in any sick, twisted way they please?
Taxpayer, I regret to inform you that this isn’t just a creepy hypothetical. THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED... and you’re paying for it, courtesy of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
... and we discovered they are planning on continuing with these disturbing experiments.
Taxpayer, WCW shocked the world when our #BeagleGate investigation exposed that NIAID, under the direction of Dr. Anthony Fauci, was shipping your tax dollars to a Tunisian animal lab for experiments where beagles’ heads were locked in mesh cages so they could be eaten alive by hungry sand flies.
Now we’ve uncovered that NIAID is also bankrolling the same Tunisia-style torture here in the States, but with a sickening twist: the white coats experimented on abandoned pet dogs.
Taxpayer, Fauci may have resigned from his position as NIAID’s director, but #BeagleGate is getting worse. His legacy of wasteful spending on government animal abuse is alive and worse than ever:
ABANDONED PETS: At least 12 fox hounds were “donated” by their owners—AKA discarded—to a NIAID-funded lab at the University of Iowa.
EATEN ALIVE: Once the white coats got their latex gloves on the sweet hounds, they DRUGGED them, LOCKED their heads in mesh cages, and strapped capsules full of RAVENOUS sand flies to their ears. They suffered in pain as the insects feasted on their blood.
NO SURVIVORS: Then, the white coats killed and dissected each and every dog — and threw out their remains like trash.
YOUR TAX BILL: $10 MILLION since 2017! [Payout #'s: 5T32AI007260 and R01TW010500]
Taxpayer, it’s UNCONSCIONABLE — the idea of our own government encouraging people to discard their pets in the name of “science.”
WCW is the first group to expose this scandal, and is the ONLY group funding this investigation and campaign — but our war chest is severely depleted.
Taxpayer, last time you stepped up, WCW successfully exposed and closed all five of NIAID’s $1.8 million hay fever experiments on beagle puppies. No other group has shut down a single government dog lab in nearly a generation!
Taxpayer, we can do it again in Iowa, but we need your help to get the job done.
6 years. 12 pet hounds abandoned and killed. $10 million taxpayer dollars wasted.
Enough is enough — are you in?

P.S. DEADLINE FOR Taxpayer: The NIH is the world’s largest funder of animal experimentation. We’re David vs. Goliath. No other groups are funding this investigation. We’re doing 100% of the FOIAs, media, lobbying, and advertising — but we haven’t hit our budget. Please be a voice for puppies and take action immediately before more dogs are abandoned and slaughtered.
