What is a squad formation event?
When women and female-identifying candidates run for office, we deal with a whole of crap that others simply don’t have to deal with. From unsupportive family members to trolls to shaming to death threats, it can be a nightmare. But it doesn’t have to be—if we step up and support each other. The team from RUN believes that we should form squads around each other to amplify, support and defend candidates from the worst of the fire. And with this formation event, we’re going a step further: We’re going to help you find a local squad to wrap around you as you run!

The event will consist of a screening of the RUN pilot episode, education of what a squad should be, and a roundtable introduction to women in your area that can be part of your squad! From comedians to social media experts to tech experts to media experts to field training to campaign training to fundraising training to self-care, these women will be just one call away from helping you forward towards a win. You will meet one of each expert at the event but get a list of many more women standing by to aid you in your fight.

(PS our squad idea is a bit different from your kitchen sink—kitchen sink experts mainly aid with funding and policy and optics. This squad actually provides you and your campaign team real-time advice and aid, intros, and resources in their expert areas. For example, a local comedian can give you a joke to combat a negative ad. A local social media expert can weigh in on your ads and the latest FB algorithms. Etc. It’s a new concept, but we believe it can catapault women forwards, keep their campaigns relevant and not isolated, and establish critical viral marketing and social help towards a win.)
