Dear John, a new ADL report on
[link removed]
‘Murder and Extremism in the United States’ reveals that the number of deaths caused by extremist attacks dropped in 2022. All of the extremist-related murders ADL tracked in 2022 were committed by right-wing extremists, with the vast majority coming from white supremacists.

The shooting sprees by right-wing extremists at a supermarket in a Black neighborhood of Buffalo and at Club Q, an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Colorado Springs, highlight one of the largest threats that extremists pose to public safety today: mass killing incidents. We cannot stand idly by and accept this as the new normal.

The report includes a special section highlighting this alarming rise in extremist-related mass killings in the United States. From the 1970s through the 2000s, the U.S. averaged five such incidents per decade. However, in just the last 12 years we’ve seen 26 mass killings or attempted mass killings. Right-wing extremists, domestic Islamist extremists and left-wing extremists have all contributed to these horrific episodes.

Take Action Against Deadly Extremism

The data is clear year after year: extremists present an urgent and continuous violent threat in the United States. Policymakers must do more to ensure a safe society for all Americans from hate-fueled and extremist violence.

We call on policymakers to review and adopt ADL’s

PROTECT Plan ; we ask you to join us now in telling Congress to
