In the time since U.S. troops withdrew from Afghanistan, the American Immigration Council has been a leader in advocating for Afghan evacuees and their families. We’ve been proud to provide legal support and help them navigate our complex immigration system. 

But there’s still a lot of work to be done—and that is why we’re thrilled to announce that we are now part of the Welcome Legal Alliance collaborative. 

Alongside our partners Welcome.US, Human Rights First, the American Bar Association, and VECINA, we have launched an innovative collaborative model to scale pro bono representation for Afghan newcomers across the country.

We have an array of volunteer opportunities, as well as mentorship and training opportunities. Our goal is to provide assistance to thousands of Afghan newcomers, while also setting a new standard across the field for pro bono assistance in the immigration field.

With years of experience through our Immigration Justice Campaign, we’re excited to start working together to provide even more assistance to Afghan newcomers.
