Hi Friend,
When Roe v. Wade was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court last summer, Justice Clarence Thomas issued a concurring opinion doubling down on the Court’s egregious decision and proclaiming that several rights to bodily autonomy should be next on the chopping block. We all knew then that the fight for reproductive justice would continue to intensify.

On November 18, 2022, several anti-abortion groups sued the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) over its approval of Mifepristone in the year 2000 and the medication's subsequent updates. This lawsuit asks the court to order the FDA to withdraw the approval of Mifepristone, thus taking it off the market and making it unavailable to abortion providers. The suit was purposely filed in the Northern District of Texas, where the cases are automatically assigned to Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, who has issued multiple anti-immigrant, anti-LGBTQ+, and anti-birth control opinions.

There are many potential outcomes of the case, most of which would make abortion care even harder to get, including in states where abortion access is currently protected. Briefing documents from lawyers are due to the court today, and a decision could come as early as this weekend. Here’s what you should know:

1. Medication abortion with Mifepristone and Misoprostol or Misoprostol alone is still safe and effective.
2. This is a serious attack on abortion access for everyone, even those in states that have passed laws to protect abortion care, but abortion overall will still be legal.
3. This case is part of the broader agenda of the anti-abortion movement to ban all abortion in the country.
4. We will take care of our people.

Wondering how you can get involved? Glad you asked. This fight is all-hands on deck.
