Yuma, Arizona - Yesterday, Congressman Van Drew testified in the House Judiciary Committee's first field hearing on the border crisis in Yuma, Arizona. The Committee examined the Department of Homeland Security's operations at the southwest border and heard testimony from three witnesses who testified about the effects illegal immigration has had on their community.
Mr. Jonathan Lines, Yuma County Supervisor District 2, responded to Congressman Van Drew's question asking if the border crisis has gotten worse over the past two years, indicating "It has exceeded anything that we could have ever imagined. We've had more than 600,000 people come through Yuma since this administration took office."
Congressman Van Drew responded to his Democrat colleagues on the Committee refusing to travel to the southwest border labeling it a "stunt" saying, "When you believe in something, when it's in your heart, when you know it's right, you are going to stand up and fight for it. Democrats can't because they know at the end of the day they are hurting our American people and they are hurting America, and it has to come to an end."
