John,
The massive train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio is a stark reminder of the dangers of transporting toxic materials by rail. The fiery wreck, is just the latest in a series of preventable tragedies that have been going on for too long.
This derailment illustrates what can happen when insufficient regulations result in a catastrophic wreck. If it happens with hazardous chemicals, it can happen with liquified natural gas (LNG) too.
Under Trump, frackers were allowed to move LNG by rail. LNG is a highly explosive form of fracked gas so leaky that it can be even worse for the climate than coal! But the Biden Administration is hesitant on whether to reverse Trump's policy and ban LNG "bomb trains" once and for all. This shouldn’t be a hard decision.
Tell President Biden and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to ban the transport of liquified natural gas by rail!

In New Jersey, a Special Permit for an LNG export terminal in Gibbstown would allow trains with up to 100 cars to run twice a day through heavily populated communities.
Transportation of LNG in rail cars endangers millions of people along the route with the potential for catastrophic accidents, leaks, and even explosions. What happened in Ohio could happen again, but it could be even worse!
President Biden and Secretary Buttigieg have the power to halt fracked gas transport by rail — and they must act now before another preventable disaster takes place.
Demand the federal government deny special permits to transport LNG by rail.

Expanding these dirty energy rail networks means transporting hazardous and even potentially deadly chemicals every. single. day.
Our communities can’t continue to be treated as dumping grounds for careless greedy corporations who put profit before public safety. Add your voice: Tell President Biden and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to stop the "bomb trains"!
