Folks,

One year ago today, an unprecedented era of relative peace and stability in Europe came to an end.

In the dead of night, Vladimir Putin weaponized the Russian army in an unprovoked act of aggression against a sovereign democratic nation. Putin’s recklessness has caused terrible death and suffering for both the Ukrainian and Russian people.

On paper, the Russian army should have easily defeated Ukraine.

But armies don’t fight on paper. Determination, grit, skill, and courage all matter. This past year has shown that Ukranians are some of the toughest fighters in history.

It’s been 365 days now. The sun continues to rise over a free Ukraine. Not by chance, but because Ukrainians continue to resist. Fiercely. Ukrainians are fighting for every house, every block, every inch of their country. I had the tremendous honor of witnessing that bravery firsthand when visiting Kyiv.

The Biden administration has been a strong partner — gathering a coalition of our allies and partners to support Ukraine. Just last month, the United States committed to sending 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine — marking a major next step.

I am hopeful of the progress we’re making, but we must continue moving at the speed of war.

As a member of Congress serving on the House Foreign Affairs and Intelligence Committees, I’ll continue working to support our allies and ensure Ukraine has the resources it needs to win this war.

Democracy isn’t inevitable. We all have a part to play in defeating authoritarianism at home and abroad.

The United Nations is raising money to help aid Ukraine. Make a donation now to help support refugees and migrants, deliver food to Ukranian people in dire need, and more. [[link removed]]
