Hi Comrade,
We’re collecting supplies from 12-2 p.m. this Saturday, 2/25 in the Lane Field Park parking lot (930 Moeller Ave, Akron, OH 44307) as part of our continued efforts to help the residents of East Palestine, OH in the aftermath of Norfolk Southern’s catastrophic train derailment. In particular, residents say they need air filtration devices (HEPA, charcoal), dish soap (unscented Dawn and 7th generation), pet food, and cleaning supplies. Water is less of an immediate need but still welcome.
Afterward, join us for a screening of Riotsville, USA nearby at Odom Branch library (2 p.m. on 2/25).
If you can’t make it or find it easier to donate cash, you can still donate to our Open Collective fund, which is managed by a collective of local socialists and other leftist groups. We’ve already collected almost $10,000 in funds, and on Thursday night, representatives from these groups visited East Palestine to meet with residents to determine what’s needed and how to best spend this money. Unlike a certain wealthy ex-president dropping off nearly expired Goya beans for a photo op, we actually want to help the community.
