Dear AU Supporter,
In honor of Black History Month, we are uplifting some of the Black Americans who have championed religious freedom and church-state separation in our country. Too often the conversation about church-state separation heroes focuses on America’s founding fathers – white men who have complicated legacies as proponents of both freedom and slavery.
Take our quiz to find out how well you know some of the Black Americans who fought for freedom without favor and equality without exception.
As white Christian Nationalists and other extremists attempt to ban books and whitewash public school curricula to remove references to our nation’s troubled history of systemic racism, it’s more important than ever that the contributions of Black religious freedom pioneers are known and celebrated.
Thank you,
Rob Boston
