John —
When our government works, we can make this state work better for North Carolinians. But we can’t make progress when some politicians put the interests of the powerful and wealthy first.
As we start negotiating the state budget for the upcoming fiscal year, I’m committed to prioritizing getting resources to the folks who need it most, and I hope Republican legislators will set politics aside and work with me.
In this budget, we have the funds to increase teacher pay and school funding, provide quality child care for working families, and cover working family tax cuts. Now, I need you to show your support for these critical initiatives to make sure Republican legislators include them in a bipartisan agreement >>>
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Every child in North Carolina deserves an excellent education — one that requires sufficient per-pupil funding. Helping working families access quality child care will also set young children up for success later on when they start school.
Meanwhile, public school teachers are overworked and underpaid. No teacher should have to work a second or third job just to pay the rent.
Prioritizing students, teachers, and families in the budget makes sense, and it’s the right thing to do to improve lives and create greater opportunities for North Carolina. Now, I need GOP legislators to deliver for working North Carolinians in a bipartisan budget. Sign on to show your support >>>
I appreciate it,
Roy
