Dear John,

When the shadow of antisemitic extremism threatens the Jewish community, it’s up to the ADL community and our allies to join together in a #ShabbatOfPeaceNotHate.

White supremacist groups are trying to organize antisemitic activities as a “National Day of Hate” throughout this coming weekend and especially this Saturday. While ADL is not aware of any specific threats, we know that these groups are hoping for increased antisemitic flier distributions, protests and graffiti. We know this is frightening; it is completely unacceptable that the Jewish community — or any community — should be targeted by extremists spreading hate and alarm.

The hate groups behind this effort hope that we will be afraid and isolated. Instead, we are coming together in resolve and solidarity.

We are asking you to join us in sharing a message of unity against antisemitism and hate. Before the Jewish Sabbath, please be sure to let your online community know that you will not back down, and you will not be intimidated by extremists. ADL created this graphic to add to your #ShabbatOfPeaceNotHate posts online.

We are living in a time of heightened hatred. In the past week, we have seen:

- Attacks against Jewish people in the streets of Los Angeles.
- Antisemitic demonstrations in front of a Chabad in Florida.
- Increases in the distribution of antisemitic propaganda in cities across the nation.
- And, on Tuesday night neo-Nazi protestors in New York City spread vile antisemitism and conspiracy theories outside the Broadway revival of Parade, the play that tells the story of the false conviction and lynching of Leo Frank. ADL wants to especially thank the producers of the play and actor Ben Platt for their powerful statements speaking out in the face of hate.
Adding to the potential for antisemitic messages this weekend is the Nation of Islam’s Saviour’s Day gathering in Chicago on Sunday, convened by

Louis Farrakhan, one of the country’s most notorious antisemites.

In addition to sharing a message of unity, we ask that you let Congress know that we urgently need to ensure that our synagogues and other houses of worship, schools and community centers are made safer by increasing the funding for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program.

Thank you for speaking up with ADL; we must show that hate has no place in our communities.

Be Prepared

Whether this weekend ends up being a time of elevated hate activity or not, we remind you that we are here to support you whenever incidents arise. Here is guidance from the ADL Center on Extremism:

- If at any time you feel you may be in danger, contact law enforcement immediately, and then

report the incident to ADL.
- Do not confront individuals distributing propaganda, conducting banner drops or spraying graffiti as they may be willing to engage in violence and/or film interactions to use in their digital propaganda.
- For the latest information on antisemitic activity around the country, see the
