Biden’s New Border Plan Reduced Crossings, Illegal Immigration, and Border Chaos - Finally - after failing to take effective action on the border crisis for two years, the Biden Administration has implemented a new border and immigration plan that is beginning to reduce chaos at the border. The total number of encounters along the southwest border with Mexico dropped by 37.9 percent in January, the month following the implementation of the new plan. Although the plan is not perfect, so far it appears to be reducing illegal immigration and improving border security. That’s good for national security and helps clear the air for a serious immigration debate. It also increases legal immigration while the US economy is suffering from inflationary workforce shortages, and defunds criminal networks and cartels by channeling migrants into the legal system and away from the black market.

Cornyn, Colleagues Introduce Bill to Prevent Foreign Adversaries from Influencing U.S. Policy - US Senators John Cornyn and Sheldon Whitehouse, and US Congressmen August Pfluger and Jason Crow introduced the Preventing Adversary Influence, Disinformation and Obscured Foreign Financing (PAID OFF) Act, which would help close Foreign Agents Registration Act loopholes that allow unregistered agents of foreign adversaries to lobby in the United States.

Parts of the Texas Hill Country and Central Texas Still in Exceptional Drought - In spite of the rain that has fallen since January 2023 and the ice storm that crippled the Texas Hill Country and other areas, the drought is still present. Parts of Bexar and Comal counties are still listed as Extreme and Exceptional Drought.  Comal County is 74.41% in the Exceptional Drought area.
