The past few weeks have been pretty big for John Legend. The 44-year-old EGOT winner released Legend (Solo Piano Version), received three Grammy nominations (Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Song), launched the skincare line Loved01, and last, but certainly not least, welcomed his third child, Esti, with Chrissy Teigen. Speaking to Fatherly, the multi-hyphenate reflected on his new album and growing family, how he balances work and parenting, and the legacy he wants to leave behind, all with an open-heartedness and honesty that’s defined his career. “I’m of the belief that you can’t control everything,” he said, when asked if his art informs his parenting. “I don’t like to micromanage anything.
