John, we’d like to introduce you to our newest honorary SEEC Member — the beaver!

Here’s a little bit of background: Right now, we’re losing our wetlands — a.k.a. the critical ecosystem that stores our water, acts as a carbon sink, and serves as a major source of food — three times faster than our forests.

Agricultural and urban expansion, droughts, and higher temperatures brought about by climate change are all to blame for the drastic decline of our wetlands. But fortunately we have a secret weapon to reverse some of the damage — beavers!

See, beaver dams transform small streams into thriving wetland ecosystems. By slowing the flow of water and keeping it on our landscape longer, beaver dams are helping to restore these ecosystems and reverse the impact of climate damage. Beavers are our unsung climate heroes — and our Members in Washington need your help to make sure we protect their wetland homes. [[link removed]]

PROTECT OUR BEAVERS 🦫 » [[link removed]]These critters have a ripple effect on their ecosystems. When our wetlands thrive, we see huge biodiversity benefits, less severe drought seasons, and a “storage facility” of sorts for large amounts of carbon — all of which are necessary elements of protecting our climate.

But John, we can’t just leave the disappearance of our wetlands for beavers to fix. We need our SEEC Members in Washington to take legislative action that will restore these lands and protect every single species of the ecosystem. Can you make a contribution of $8 to ensure they can continue the fight to protect our honorary SEEC Members — and our planet — in 2024? [[link removed]]

Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 118th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future.
