Passing the SALT
Mikie has fought for financial relief for New Jerseyans unfairly double-taxed due to the SALT deduction cap since she first ran for office, and recently, she introduced a measure that would eliminate the cap for 99% of NJ families. [[link removed]] The bipartisan bill would raise the cap from $10,000 per household to $100,000 per single filer and $200,000 per married couple.
Taking Care of our Vets
As a former Navy helicopter pilot, veterans’ health and well-being is a deeply personal issue for Mikie. Earlier this year, the VA announced it now provides free emergency mental health care for veterans. [[link removed]] Mikie is building on that progress with the introduction of her bill that would expand mental health counseling and services for veterans and their families -- including in underserved parts of northwestern New Jersey that have more difficulty accessing Veterans Centers.

Last month marked the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade . It also was the first anniversary since the Supreme Court overturned the historic decision, making it significantly harder for millions across the country to access reproductive care when they need it.
Fortunately, New Jersey has protections guaranteeing reproductive rights for people in our state. Mikie is working to make sure it stays that way and to restore reproductive rights for Americans across the country who don’t enjoy the same protections as New Jersey.
