Dear John,

Volunteering for any good cause is a wonderful way to give back. But life is tough. How can you give back when you feel like you’ve already given everything by the end of the day?

You can volunteer at PAWS Chicago, where you actually get more than you give.

Did you have a particularly long week at work? A puppy kiss can take that away in seconds.

Need to feel inspired? A cuddly kitten can do the job.

Wake up needing more purpose in your life? A healing dog’s heavy head resting on your knee might be just what you need.

By volunteering at PAWS Chicago, you’re not just helping homeless pets, you’re making your own life sweeter. And that’s a good thing because you deserve it.

PAWS in the News: Texas Tornado Relief

In late January, devastating tornados tore through the Houston area, ripping one shelter's roof clean off and displacing the pets who were sheltered there.

To make room for these animals, PAWS Chicago rescued 33 dogs and puppies from Houston-area shelters.

The animals arrived at our Medical Center just after midnight. Volunteers, employees, and medical staff were there to welcome them and within minutes of arriving, each dog—including 27 puppies under one year old—were already snuggling in doggie beds, playing with toys, and resting after a long day of travel.

Pippen Fasseas Adoption Center

Join us for a rare gathering of pups who have been living in foster homes. These hidden gems have a harder time finding their people because they're not usually at the shelter. But their personalities are just begging to be seen! Reserve your spot & shake paws with them all.

Please note: These dogs are happiest in homes without small children and may be selective about other pets.

Volunteer of the Month: James Horwath

James Horwath is a perfect example of the many, many ways you can volunteer at PAWS Chicago. In January 2023 alone, James supported homeless pets as a Level 2 dog volunteer at both our Adoption Center and Medical Center, a Dog Town first shift mentor, an off-site adoption event driver & dog handler, and an off-site media volunteer.
