Dear John,
Together with friends like you, in cities and towns all across America, we are creating happier, healthier, more resilient communities where everyone can thrive thanks to the power of public land. And as you’ll see in this year’s Annual Report, we are most powerful when we work together with partners like you.
In 2019, we conserved 84,855 acres of open space, improved access to trails in 20 communities, created 15 city parks, and transformed 14 schoolyards into green, welcoming places to gather and play. We helped state and local governments design, pass, and implement 18 voter-approved ballot measures, generating more than $2.29 billion in new public funding for parks and nature. Our members and supporters sent over 553,000 petitions to their elected officials, urging them to protect our parks and land—increasing equity, improving health, and building climate resilience.
Thanks to our supporters, today more than 9 million people live within a 10-minute walk of a place created or protected by The Trust for Public Land and countless more visit these sites each year.
I am so pleased to share the 2019 Annual Report with you. Thank you again for standing with us as we reimagine and realize the power of land for people to create stronger communities that move society forward. Together, we are renewing the power of public land to serve a greater public good.
With gratitude,
Diane Regas
President and CEO
