Friend,
When you join TPL, your membership support protects land in more ways than one—31 ways and counting to be exact!
In 2022, voters passed 31 of 34 Trust for Public Land-endorsed state and local ballot measures. Altogether, these measures are expected to generate more than $8 billion in new funding for parks, climate, and conservation.
But Friend, the credit doesn’t go to us. It goes to people like you who care about our public lands. Your membership support makes all the difference in our 91% ballot initiative success rate.
Keep our winning streak going in 2023 by activating your annual membership today!
By joining today, you help us advance policy and ballot measures at the national and local level that expand national parks, preserve cultural sites, fund conservation, and so much more.
In November we fought—and won—beside community leaders in more than a dozen states, including:
-
Massachusetts – Worcester, Boylston, Natick, Shelburne, and Westboro voted to adopt the Community Preservation Act. This state program allows communities to establish a local property tax dedicated to open space, outdoor recreation, historic preservation, and affordable housing.
-
California – Marin County voters approved a new parcel tax to help purchase the 110-acre Tiburon Ridge. Also known as the “Martha Property,” securing this land will protect critically endangered open space, natural areas, wildlife habitat, and water quality for surrounding Tiburon and Belvedere.
-
Washington – Voters in King County approved a measure that will generate $440 million with the goal of conserving 65,000 acres of open space over the next thirty years, including forests, trails, rivers, farmlands, and green spaces.
We’re already drawing up a list of this year’s ballot initiatives. All of them—and all our work to permanently protect one million acres of land, 1,000 miles of rivers and streams and 1,000 miles of trails—rely on your support today.
Friend, show your commitment to protect public land. Become a member today.
Sincerely,
Josh VanDavier
