Nearly nine million children live in food-insecure homes in the United States.
Access to food is a human right. No child should ever go hungry.
At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress passed a bill allowing all students to receive breakfast and lunch from their school free of charge.
This benefited millions of children and families across the nation – freeing them from school lunch debt shaming and allowing families to focus on other necessities like health care and transportation.
But that funding lapsed in June.
Now families must fill out complex forms for free or reduced-price school meals, and many who don't qualify are still struggling to pay.
Will you join me in urging Congress to fund universal school meals now?

When students are hungry, they have trouble concentrating and retaining information. If we're serious about their success, we must provide all students with the nourishment they need.
Providing universal school meals is a good investment in our future. By feeding students today, we are preparing them for success in the classroom and beyond.
Sign my petition today and tell Congress to fund universal school meals!
I'll keep advocating until all students have access to nutritious meals.
Thank you for standing with me,
Suzanne
