Power the Vote is launching the Blue Texas
project to fight + fund everywhere!
Dear John,
Well, this one’s a doozy.
Texas Republicans just introduced a bill to ban voting on college campuses.
You might wonder how they justify the move? That’s the kicker.
GOP state Rep. Carrie Isaac, who wrote the bill, cited “school safety” and the school shooting in Uvalde as one reason to ban voting on campus.
Yeah, we’re stunned, too.
Texas Republicans have done exactly nothing to address the crisis of gun violence in our schools – but they’re happily using it as an excuse to suppress student votes.
We’re not going to stand for it – and that’s why we founded Blue Texas.
We’re fighting back against Republican voter suppression – and funding the next wave of state legislative nominees to hold Republicans like Rep. Carrie Isaac accountable.

We saw the news last year. Young voters turned out in the midterm elections, and they went the extra mile to do it – literally.
Last year, Brazos County officials eliminated early voting at Texas A&M University – forcing students to walk an hour round-trip to the nearest available polling place.
A similar story is playing out all over Texas – only 20% of Texas’ nine historically Black colleges and universities had an early-voting location on campus last year.
Here’s a fact: If student votes didn’t matter, Texas Republicans wouldn’t be fighting so hard to suppress them.
GOP Rep. Carrie Isaac knows something about that – she lost her seat in 2020 largely because of the votes of Texas State University students. The only reason she’s in office now is because of gerrymandering.
So it’s no surprise that she’s trying to silence the voices of the students in her district.
We’re here to empower those students to fight back – and we hope you’ll join us.

Blue Texas is a grassroots movement and community that’s focused on lifting up Texas voters (including students!) in every corner of the state.
Our members fund two things: 24/7/365 voter protection efforts, to help ensure that every Texas voter can cast a ballot that counts, and Democratic nominees for state legislature, to make sure that every Democratic nominee for state legislature has resources to fight.
Once you join, you’ll be invited to join us for our very first community event – March 2 at 7pm with Michelle Vallejo!
We’ll talk more about how all of us can make change here in Texas and fight to empower voters.
Young voters are using their voices and doing their part – now let’s do ours and make Texas Republicans listen.
In solidarity,
Kim

We Fund Voter Protection
Republicans have the one-two punch of voter suppression and gerrymandering. Blue Texas is the counterpunch.
We're a community that boosts both a consistent, year-round voter protection army and Democratic nominees for Texas state legislature.
