john,

Here’s what I said about Matthew Kacsmaryk — the Trump-appointed judge who could order a nationwide ban on medication abortion — back when I voted against his confirmation in 2019:

Tweet from Tina Smith on June 18, 2019, saying Matthew Kacsmaryk’s anti-choice and homophobic comments tell us that his personal bias makes him unable to uphold precedent as a federal judge. His nomination is a threat to reproductive justice and LGBTQ+ rights - both of which have precedent in settled law - and I’m voting no. [[link removed]]

Since his confirmation, he’s proven himself as an activist willing to use the courts to further his own far-right agenda.

He has delivered rulings that have upheld Trump’s immigration policies, struck down guidelines that protected transgender people in the workplace, and is taking up a case brought forth by COVID conspiracy theorists.

Judge Kacsmaryk’s ruling on banning medication abortion could come as soon as this Friday.

I introduced the Protecting Access to Medication Abortion Act so that activist judges couldn’t impose their right-wing, anti-abortion ideology on the millions of women who deserve their fundamental right to choose when and how to have a family.

We’ve got to come together now and raise hell to stop this activist judge and protect reproductive freedom.

john, add your name alongside mine to become a citizen co-sponsor of the Protecting Access to Medication Abortion Act and demand Congress pass this bill as soon as possible. [[link removed]]

I’m not backing down in this fight. Thank you for standing with me.
