PARTNER HIGHLIGHTS

------------------------------------------------------------

The award ([link removed]) recognizes their record of assisting thousands of migrant workers to defend their rights and years of tireless advocacy for a more just and humane migration process.

Greenpeace has released an updated edition ([link removed]) of its report, “The High Cost of Cheap Tuna,” on the failings of canned tuna retailers to curb forced labor in their supply chains. Every brand except for one received a failing grade.

The Global Press 2022 Annual Report ([link removed]) takes a deep and robust look at their work. “More and more, it’s becoming clear that journalism — high-quality journalism — can be an ingredient for social change. Amidst all of these changes, the Global Press model has shifted from niche to necessary.”

"Without economic prospects, trafficking victims in India have little choice but to be exploited again." Check out openDemocracy's latest feature ([link removed]) , which explores how survivors can be prevented from being retrafficked in India.

Peace Direct CEO, Dylan Matthews, wrote a compelling reflection ([link removed]) on the importance of unrestricted funding and how this type of funding enabled them to respond to the earthquake emergency in Turkey and northern Syria.

Worker Rights Consortium announced ([link removed]) that following their intervention in the matter, $1 million USD would be paid to factory workers in Haiti after the factory’s corporate ownership improperly closed it.

Check out this coverage ([link removed]) from The New Humanitarian on peace in Colombia and the places that still experience violence. “We continue to be ignored by the government, who view our suffering as a sort of never-ending story happening in the unimportant margins of society.”

Recently, Nicole Bibbins Sedaca from Freedom House; Richard Fontaine from the Center for a New American Security; Ash Jain from the Atlantic Council, and Tod Lindberg from the Hudson Institute came together for a great conversation ([link removed]) on the role values should play in U.S. foreign policy.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT HU

------------------------------------------------------------

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Humanity United (HU) announced ([link removed]) a partnership aimed at strengthening peaceful collective action on a worldwide scale through the Powered by the People initiative. The partnership aims to strengthen regional and global ecosystems and networks that enable peaceful collective action in tackling the world’s most intractable problems.

HU Director for Peacebuilding, Leslie Wingender, recently moderated a panel with members of the Colombian Truth Commission on safeguarding their final report ([link removed]) , an effort that came after a year of discussions to ensure the public files of the Truth Commission's work remain accessible for the next 10 years. The Legacy Project ([link removed]) at the University of Notre Dame seeks to preserve and engage the digital archive of the Colombian Truth Commission through sharing a myriad of narratives and memories compiled about the country’s 52-year armed conflict to advance transitional justice, human rights, and the centrality of victims. The project celebrates the Truth Commission’s inspiring research efforts, making its archives available for study and creative practice in order to shape peacebuilding efforts around the world.
