Nottingham ranked among top cities for EV readiness

The number of charging sessions on the councils D2N2 charging network [ [link removed] ] is continuing to grow month on month. With almost 9,000 charging sessions in January across the whole network, which covers Nottingham, Derby, Nottinghamshire, and Derbyshire. This was a record for monthly usage on the network and with the uptake of electric vehicles continuing to increase, we are seeing these new records set almost every month.

Nottingham?s success in this area was recently recognised with a 2nd place ranking, just behind London, in a recently published EV readiness index from?Motorway [ [link removed] ].

The Council is still striving to expand the D2N2 charging network to help more residents with the transition to electric vehicles. With ?1 million of Levelling Up Funding [ [link removed] ] being targeted to help improve charging provision in residential areas for those without off street parking.

Council teams planting the future
NCC team that planted the trees

Transport Strategy and Parking Services colleagues went out at the start of the month to Southglade Park, Bestwood to plant trees.

A mixture of native and naturalised broadleaf and evergreen trees were planted that have both?help to reduce carbon in the atmosphere and give benefits for wildlife. From the caterpillars or moths, ground nesting birds, dormice, various birds as well as small mammals, these trees will benefit biodiversity in the surrounding area.

14 different species of trees were planted from Wild Cherry to Yew to Scots Pine - the only truly native Pine tree in the UK. They will reach maturity a different speeds with the Oaks taking around 40 years to the Silver Birch as little as 10 years.

All together, 825 trees were planted across the park as we aim to create better air quality for the city of Nottingham. Another 700 trees are on their way ready to be planted in the spring.

These trees were funded directly by our customers at Lace Market Car Park from our designated? giving station to offset parker's emissions.?
