On the 47th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we want to be clear: abortion is healthcare. Legal healthcare. The Ms. Foundation is committed to ensuring that reproductive healthcare including access to abortion does not get rolled back on our watch without a fight.
We are proud to partner with leaders who know what to do when the stakes are as high as they are right now. In the first half of 2019 alone, 58 abortion restrictions were enacted in 19 states, including 25 abortion bans. These tactics work to criminalize both patients and providers, and disproportionately affect people of color, rural communities, and poor people.
We will not have equity without bodily autonomy for all. Today, we celebrate the freedom we have and recommit to protecting hard-won victories. Read more of our statement about this historic day here.
