Friend,
For more than 80 years, Social Security has paid out critical benefits owed to millions of Americans—Americans like my parents, who are retired and rely on Social Security today.
They are not alone, nearly 40 percent of seniors rely on Social Security for a majority of their income. And 1 in every 7 seniors rely on it for more than 90 percent of their income.
Social Security is essential for the well-being of tens of millions of seniors, as well as people with disabilities. Yet the average Social Security benefit is only $1,688 a month. That’s barely enough to keep up with the rising cost of living.
Take action: Tell Congress to expand Social Security and help seniors retire with dignity.
Along with cost-of-living adjustments, the Social Security Expansion Act of 2023 would increase benefits by $2,400 a year, extend the solvency of Social Security for 75 years by requiring the wealthy to pay their fair share of taxes, and make other improvements to this essential program.
