Ahead of Nigeria’s presidential election this weekend, the World Justice Project caught up with the Samuel Ioron Foundation. This 2022 World Justice Challenge finalist in the Equal Rights and Non-Discrimination category is working hard to encourage Nigerian women and young people to vote through their Vote+ program.
According to the 2022 WJP Rule of Law Index, Nigeria’s rule of law score has decreased for the past five years. Notably at this moment, it ranks among the bottom third of countries when it comes to confidence that transition of power is subject to the law.
“As the election draws closer it’s becoming more tense,” the Foundation’s Dooshima Kave told the World Justice Project. “The message we’re trying to pass is simple—you know what you’re looking for in a leader and the things a leader should do.”
